  1. Happy Feast Day, Terry! I can see you and La Santa Madre looking at each other and saying the same thing: 'You get me...'

    1. Thanks! I hope you are safe and will remain so from the fires - some areas look apocalyptic.

  3. I always remember the wonderful silent seven day retreat I was on up in Rancho Palos Verde, Calif. I remember too the topic of the retreat was on the Interior Castle and the life of Santa Teresa de Avila. Father GE, a Benedictine with a degree in Mystical Theology, was our retreat Master. He was solid and amusing so much so that after all these years I remember most of what he taught us.

One story he told was about Santa Teresa being vivacious, with a good sense of humor, while working hard at reforming the Carmelite order along with San Juan de la Cruz "her beloved friend and sometime mentor." He also shared with us that she loved to play the violin and entertain the sisters. That makes her all the more human to me and lively. ^^

    Felicidades, Terry!

  4. Are you a lay Carmelite Terry?

    1. No - just devoted to Carmelite saints and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel since I was a little kid. I started wearing a scapular when I was 3 or 4, nagging one of my sister's girl friends to give me the one I found in her purse.
