The Peace of Christmas

The triumph of Christmas.
Christmas Mass in Aleppo's
Old City, in the war ravaged Cathedral of St. Elias.

Before and after.

Peace to men and women in the war-torn land of Syria, where far too much blood has been spilled. Above all in the city of Aleppo, site of the most awful battles in recent weeks, it is most urgent that assistance and support be guaranteed to the exhausted civil populace, with respect for humanitarian law. It is time for weapons to be still forever, and the international community to actively seek a negotiated solution, so that civil coexistence can be restored in the country. - Pope Francis, Urbi et Orbi

  1. What's going on in Aleppo is just horrendous. I pray every day for them.

  2. "Robed in white, with palm branches in their hands, worshipping and praising God. These are the saints, who have “washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb” (Rev. 7:14).

Great is their faith, great is their preserverence!

May heaven be theirs as they continue onward. They are strong in their suffering while I am weak in my abundance.

My prayers always for my brothers and siters in Christ Jesus who live in the city of Aleppo. May peace be restored to them all!
