  1. Terry, kind sir,

    1. I would have posted her and a few others but blooger wouldn't let me. I also had Bette Davis and Sophia Loren and a few others - maybe when I have nothing to blog about and more time I'll do a sequel. ;)

    2. I sure had a good chuckle when I saw a picture of the "worldly woman" Joan Collins as a nun. I had to wonder how she might have "battled" her memories of long lost loves had she been a real life novice. Too funny.

Yes, I thought of Sophia Loren but Bette Davis? Wow...now that must have been a real doozy of a role for her feisty self. ^^

  2. I loved the "Trouble with Angels." I still watch it and I love the Christmas Pageant scenes, reminds me of being a little kid in school. I HATE the sequel with Stella Stevens with her mod nun and the bus trip. And really, how DID dumb old Marvel Ann, who we saw graduate, come back for the sequel?

And uh...you forgot...Ingrid Bergman in Belle's of St. Mary's???? "Mr. Bogardes, can you stand up?"

    1. Stella Stevens, the original nun on the bus.

    2. LOL..I think the part was originally written for Haley Mills as her character went to the convent in the end of the first one. Which would have been interesting to see her character be a "differnet," kind of nun. As it was, Stella Stevens comes off as annoying trying to mod and with it! And the movies attempt to take in post Vatican II changes and social change is goofy!

However, it still has good old Mary Wicks, even if she is not jumping into the pool with her tennis shoes she still has a good scene with the bus stuck on the train tracks.

  3. And the most famous ever- Julie Andrews! Or does she not count because she was just a novice?

    1. Well she woulda been a nun if it wasn't for the smoking hot Captain. Tho my sympathy lies with the Baroness..I woulda sent those annoying singing kids packing to boarding school. Who's the old broad who lip sinks "Climb Every Mountain?"She a goog emotionally distant nun.

    2. Speaking of smoking hot....remember Robert Mitchum in his prime as he fell in love with the ever so lovely but cold as ice nun played by Deborah Kerr?

Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison...stranded with him on an island in the South Pacific during WWII...wow. ^^

      Terry,

You planning on a Hollywood Priests post or did I miss that one?

    3. Mitchum does bring the smoke but I never saw that movie. I can't believe they could get away with it as I am sure Deborah Kerr came away with her habit in place and her vows unbroken, there had to be a lot of sexual tension there, I mean, it is Robert Mitchum.

Though I can't think of him as anything but the psycho preacher in "Night of the Hunter." I still get freaked about the boat ride with the kids and him following them..much scarier then any Saw movie etc.

  4. Don't forget Gladys Cooper from "The Song of Bernadette". She was nasty (but eventually repents). And how about Jeanne Moreau in "Map of the Human Heart".

  5. All of those you mention are waiting in the wings for their curtain calls.. I even have a photo of Jennifer as St. B with Gladys.

I have Shirley MacLaine as a nun too.

    1. I know lots of the best nuns in the movies were from Hollywood's golden years but what about Diana Rigg? Does she count?

    1. I was going to include them but I ran out of space - I also wanted to include Shirley MacLaine and Marilu Henner in Cannonball Run.

      Him likes Cannonball!

  9. Ah, you've forgotten the truly great "Hollywood Nun" - Mother Delores. The real deal (and the most beautiful). Is it a coincidence that she played St. Clare, the patron saint of television?
