Fr. Apostoli, C.F.R. on Fatima...

Russia will spread her errors...
.
So don't listen to me at all, instead, listen to what an excellent Roman Catholic priest has to say about Fatima and its relevance to our time.
.
On Fatima anniversary, Fr. Apostoli sees atheism overtaking the West.
.
The author of an exhaustive study on the Virgin Mary's 1917 appearances in Portugal says her words are being fulfilled by the rise of aggressive secularism and loss of religious freedom in the West.

“Mary, as I see it, pointed out at Fatima that these things were going to happen,” said Fr. Andrew Apostoli, a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal.

“She said that an evil will begin in Russia, and will spread its errors around the world,” Fr. Apostoli noted, recalling Mary's words in 1917.
.
“Those errors – an atheistic form of government, life, and society – have come upon us now, in the form of secularism, and the attack on life, the family, and religious freedom.”
.
Mary's appearance on October 13, 1917, included one of the most dramatic public miracles of modern times, a well-documented event known today as the “Miracle of the Sun.” On that day, 70,000 people watched as the sun appeared to make three circles and “dance” in the sky in a zig-zag pattern. - Finish reading here.

  1. Terry - have you read the book? It is very informative, and an interesting read. I was appreciative of the section that clarified some of the controversial questions that one hears over and over again in various circles.

  2. Fr Apostoli believes that the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was done properly in 1984 by the Pope JPII as our Blessed Mother wished. Sad to say, JPII had not enough courage to utter the word "Russia" durinf that act of purported "consecration". In addition all thge bishop throughout the world were not associated.
Therefore the "Consecratio"n was flawed and didn't bring the fruits we could hope. In particular the Russia until now (almost 30 years later hasn't converted to the true Catholic faith though our Lady had promised a "miracle of conversion" and, as Fr Apostoli still is noticing, "Russia is continuing to spread her errors".
Thus in my opinion, sorry Fr Apostoli, the Consecration is yet to be performed.

  3. Jac ... have you read the book?

  4. pmi,
I don't reply to Fr Apostoli's book (which I didn't read) I reply to the article that states that Fr Apostoli holds that the 1984 Consecration was properly made, while Fr Gruner demonstrated the contrary since many years.
In addition I recommend you to read the book of Antonio Socci "Il quarto Segreto" regarding Fatima and peculiarly the 3rd Secret. Very instructive and another vision than the "official" one.

  5. jac, what you posit is that several popes have been involved in a cover-up of epic proportions. Your position calumniates the pope, actually several popes, at least implicitly, as well as faithful priests like Fr. Apostoli, Groeschel, and others.

Anyway, Russia is not the one spreading errors anymore - it's the Americans and Europeans and the religion of godless secularism. Russia is actually seeing a flowering of the Russian Orthodox faith (yes, they're "not Catholic", but I do not think the Blessed Mother meant that they would become Roman Catholics - perhaps we'll see a reunification of the East and West as things deteriorate in the secular world) and a reversal of her long-standing abortion practices, as well as resisting the mass consumerism and secularism of Western Europe.

But what I always wondered is - wasn't World War II what was predicted? And wasn't the persecution of Christians in Eastern Europe, the USSR, and Latin America much worse than anything we're witnessing in the US or Europe today? We seem to understand things from the perspective of 21st century America, but the Soviet Union spread Communism all over the world through the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s.

And ironically, some of those places are now fiercely anti-communist, though the siren song of western liberal secularism is seductive.

Another thing is, why "Russia will spread her errors?" Marxism was not born in Russia, but in the hotbed of revolutionary liberalism in Central Europe that followed the French Revolution in the 19th century - Russia just happened to be the first country where it was practiced on a large scale.

  6. Lucia says Russia has been consecrated:

And Fr. Gruner's priestly faculties have been suspended.

  7. ck, unfortunately everyone knows that. But the "true believers" will just see that as a sign that Sr. Lucia was "gotten to" and that Fr. Gruner is being persecuted. There is literally no way to convince people once they start believing in conspiracy, except to remind them that the statement is "Ubi Petrus, ibi Ecclesia," and not "Ubi Gruner ..."

  8. Fr. Gruner is gravely misled and is misleading many souls. Pay no attention to those people. These types have turned Fatima into a cult.

  9. I work with a Grunerite. He can be unsufferable at times.

  11. what's your opinion on the consecration, Terry? And what do you think about Sister Lucia having a double? LOL

  12. It's this business that keeps me far away from apparitions.

  13. I think any time people start believing something that actually REQUIRES them to believe that the Pope is lying to them are just walking off the deep end.

  14. Mark - I believe the consecration was made properly and was accepted by heaven as Lucia stated. The Lucia double pretense is absurd - such a deception would never be tolerated in Carmel - much les perpetrated by the Church. Spreading falsehoods such as that story should be enough for reasonable people to reject those organizations which sponsor such stupid conspiracy theories.

  15. A Random Friar10:17 AM

I think perhaps Fr. Gruner is showing himself to be another "type" of priest who becomes more engaged in his cause than in his priesthood or vows.

Our vocation, first and foremost, is to belong to God. We then give, by vow or promise, in front of His Church, our obedience to all legitimately appointed authority over us.

It is hard, though, even as a priest, when you invest so much in something to pull away. It takes a great test of character and self-abandonment to let it go. Pray that I do not endure the same temptation.

  16. "I don't reply to Fr Apostoli's book (which I didn't read) I reply to the article that states that Fr Apostoli holds that the 1984 Consecration was properly made..." —JAC

I knew what you were replying to, and that is why I posed the question. If you read Fr. Apostoli's book, he addresses this 'supposed' controversy reflecting back to another like incident in Catholic history regarding a heavenly request that was ignored/delayed. What has played out in time regarding Fatima is very similar.

As another person posted faith is being renewed in Russia and their once abandoned churches are being refurbished etc. Last week my family and I saw this documentary and I highly recommend it.

  17. If Russia was consecrated to Her Immaculate Heart, the Holy Mother would have shown her pleasure at the Holy Father doing so.

    So far, she has not.

A mother always rewards her children when they do well.

Recently, the talks between the Vatican and the SSPX broke down.

The Holy Father placed conditions before the SSPX in no uncertain terms that he knew the SSPX would reject.

The Pope's reason for doing so?

    The Third Secret of Fatima.

He has read the Third Secret and I strongly believe this influenced his 'rejection' of the SSPX.

Russia is spreading her errors throughout the world.

If she had been properly consecrated, she would not be doing so.

    Pray for Father Gruner.

Remember, the Holy Mother allows her chosen to be ridiculed before she works God's will through them.

So the fall of European communism--a system founded on nothing but blood and iron--without a single shot is chopped liver?

    What astounding ingratitude.

  19. And, I would really like to know what Russia is doing that's sooo bad nowadays, besides thuggery?

WE are spreading more errors than Russia nowadays!

  20. Our Lady never spoke about the fall of a political regime or a dictatorship, no, she said that Russia will be converted if that country is consecrated to Her Immaculate Heart.
Did you ever notice any conversion trend to the true Catholic Faith? .
Instead, the few catholics in Russia are persecuted less than they were under Stalin, but that persecution is real.

  22. In addition, there are many (not only one or two) testimonies of Sr Lucia saying that the 1984 Consecration had not been done properly for a period of 5 years between 1984 and 1989.
It looks like as if Sr Lucia had been silenced by her hierarchy: The virtue of obedience is capital in her religious order, one may acknowledge this.
The local bishop of Fatima Mgr Do Amaral personnally confided the late Abbé de Nantes to have conveyed Sr Lucia the order to "shut up" coming straight from the Vatican.

  23. Again, your assertions rely on hearsay and require a belief that several popes have been involved in great deception. Those are very heavy charges. They also mean one would have to trust private whisperings over the pope and magisterium.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So, a revival of Russian Orthodoxy is not good enough in terms of conversion - they have to become Latin rite Roman Catholics (and no doubt not "Novus Ordo" ones) to count. What if the Russian Orthodox church is to be strengthened and then reunite with the Roman Catholics in the future?

    ReplyDelete
  25. The revival of Orthodoxy in Russia may be enough for you but certainly not for our Lady because She believes in this catholic dogma that "there is no salvation outside the RCC". So far as I know our Lady never said it had been abrogated.
The fact that the orthodox faith is reviving isn't a miracle in itself: This happened in the same way for the Catholic faith in France once the Revolution was ended by Bonaparte.
To consider the revival of the Orthodoxy in Russia as the straight consequence of the purported "consecration" made by JPII in 1984 is the height of hypocrisy since it is completely ignoring or dismissing the fact that the persecutions against the Russian catholics never ceased.
