Political Candidates for a Country where Valentine's Day is practically a National Holiday.

"It's just emotion that's taking us over..."

"She is a former beauty queen; he is a one-time nude model. She has written a bestselling memoir; he is negotiating a contract to write one. Both drive pick-up trucks and base their appeal on folksy common sense.

.
The former Miss Wasilla and America’s sexiest man, aka Sarah Palin and Scott Brown, may sound like contestants in a celebrity game show. But to the bemusement of many Americans, the unlikely duo are the most visible Republicans in the country and may become rivals to Barack Obama in the next presidential election.
.
Two years ago most Americans had heard of neither. Palin was plucked from the icy wastes of Alaska, where she was governor, to be Senator John McCain’s running mate. Brown found himself catapulted to national celebrity a month ago after he unexpectedly won the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat, which had been in Democrat hands for 50 years.

“Brown 4 Prez” speculation started the following morning." - Source

  3. Nooooo!
Wouldn't it be entertaining to have Sarah running against Hillary? (in a sick sort of way, that is!)
Seriously, maybe we need a new party.

She does not have a snowballs chance.....of winning anything. He, on the other hand, might. It depends on which way the Republican winds blow. Scott Brown is not pro-life in any sense that I understand what the Church means. He is pro-choice. His position sounds no different than most Democratic candidates positions. I copied this blurb straight from his official website on the day he was elected. I assume it's still there....unless he has changed his position already.

    Abortion
While this decision should ultimately be made by the woman in consultation with her doctor, I believe we need to reduce the number of abortions in America. I believe government has the responsibility to regulate in this area and I support parental consent and notification requirements and I oppose partial birth abortion. I also believe there are people of good will on both sides of the issue and we ought to work together to support and promote adoption as an alternative to abortion.

You Americans have nothing on Filipinos! =P We once had a former Action star as president and will soon see Manny Pacquiao make a bid for Congress. At least you guys have better eye-candy!

Seriously, there's something decadent about politics these days, everywhere in the world I look.

  12. Enbrethiliel - youi nailed it - it is exactly my point. An actor from another country as Govenor in California? - God forbid I should ever question anything about Reagan - in Minnesota we had Jesse Ventura, a practically illiterate ex-wrestler, and now Alec Baldwin wants to quit show-biz and run for office. I like the guy, but he can't even manage his private life.

  13. Okay, what about Al Franken...from MN???
    WTH?
Is this guy even "educable" much less "trainable"...(sorry to offend the developmentally disabled here!).
When he opens his mouth, gas erupts.
    Just sayin'...
(Believe me, we in WI have to deal with Kohl, Obey, Kind, Feingold...yeah, it's hell here!)
