Goobye

I just got word Gerald is definitely closing the Cafeteria and starting up a new blog on Wordpress. No further information available.

  1. I like Gerald. Some of the commenters on his blog are just way too concerned w/themselves & ensuring they *admonish the sinner* with relish (and sometimes catsup & mustard, too).

It is important to fraternally correct one if one is in error, but it's not our responsibility to make a mission out of angrily converting someone. Either a person accepts the truth or they don't. Let them go with God and pray for them.

God's peace, Gerald. It was fun while it lasted.

Gerald's is a classic story of what happens when one steps out on the slippery slope. This should be a caution to all Catholics who are currently where Gerald first started out: at the pro-war/neo-con/Zionist/Republican-party-as-Magisterium stand. It's a quick slide down from there.

I love the line "sin makes you stupid" which Mark Shea (another convert, but thank goodness still seems to be keeping his head about Church teachings and politics). This is SO true! I see it in my own life, as well as in the many examples in the "Catholic blogosphere".

I like doughboy's comment better; I've noticed the same thing. No one will change Gerald's mind when the Church's teaching is rolled up and used to smack him upside the head.
