St. Francis and the Mother Feast of Franciscans

The feast of pardon.
.
This is the feast of the Mother Church of the Franciscan Order, the 'little prtion', or 'porziuncula', otherwise known as the Chapel of Our Lady of the Angels. St. Francis loved this little jewel of a Chapel, now enclosed in a huge Basilica in the valley below Assisi. I love this feast of Our Lady of the Angels!
.
(Incidently, this feast is the patronal feast day of Los Angeles, which was named after the little chapel of St. Mary of the Angels, by the original Franciscan missionaries in Calfornia.)

Yippee! We went to the little replica Port on the campus of Franciscan U after the vigil mass last night--it has been designated a sight to receive the indulgence for one year on certain dates including 8-2.

St. Francis left us a wonderful gift.

Anyone in the Pittsburgh/Cleveland/Akron area might be interested in visiting the Port at Franciscan University, here's a link to its story:

  4. I had no idea! Meanwhile, I was at Adoration, Confession and Mass.

Don't forget Tuesday, the 150th anniversary of the death of St. John Vianney and two days later the First Thursday, on which plenary indulgences for The Year for Priests may be obtained.

T, you don't want my mid-summer prayers, they are seriously lame...and rather self centered ie: help!
